Pottstown SCORE Celebrates 25th Anniversary with Client Expo

On October 22nd, the Service Corp of Retired Executives (SCORE) Pottstown Chapter celebrated its 25th anniversary with a first of its kind Client EXPO. The event was open all of the tri-county area business community and their supporters. SCORE is a national organization of volunteer advisors offering free, confidential business advice to small businesses, entrepreneurs and local communities. All of the exhibitors at the EXPO were SCORE Clients or sponsors. The purpose of the EXPO was to promote the local SCORE chapter and their work in helping local business development, and to encourage SCORE clients, both past and present, to share their experience and showcase their businesses.

This was a first time effort for SCORE Pottstown. The meeting room at the Connections on High Café provided the perfect setting, and St. Peter’s Bakery, a successful SCORE client, provided delicious food. In addition, the Peppermint Stick Candy Store offered free samples of some of their best candies.

Fifteen area businesses exhibited at the EXPO: Art Fusion 19464, Building A Better Boyertown, Diamond Events LLC, Grumpy's Handcarved Sandwiches, JP Design, Laserworx, L&J Commercial Cleaning Services Inc., Magical Wonders Vacations, The Peppermint Stick Candy Store, Power Seal USA, S&N Ventures Inc., Saint Peter's Bakery, Strong Point Graphics, Lifepoints Counseling Center, and Victory Closets. Each of the fifteen local businesses presented their products and services in beautifully decorated exhibits.

The agenda included two well-attended business seminars, and Barry Cassidy spoke about his experiences during the revitalization efforts in Downingtown, South Street and Phoenixville.  He communicated the need for local businesses to be part of the larger revitalization efforts.

It was exciting to see the camaraderie between the participants and the genuine "hum" of interest and enthusiasm by all of the participants, many of whom relayed to the SCORE team their excitement about the EXPO, the rewards gained from this event and the commitment to do it again.

The team at SCORE Pottstown is looking forward to another EXPO in 2016 . . . and would like to see it expanded to provide the opportunity for more businesses to "meet and greet."
