There Is No Limit to What You Can Do

Ask yourself this question: If I had a million dollars, what would I do? Would you think about how you would spend the money? Would you quit your job? Would you follow your dreams and do the things you always wanted to do but were afraid to take the chance? Bottom line is, you could do a lot with a million dollars. But then ask yourself this question. Why do I ponder about what could be instead of doing what I dream to do? Have you ever thought about what you could do if you really wanted to? What is really possible for you?

The answer is that there is a real possibility that you can do virtually anything. A realist might say some things are just not possible where a pessimist would say certain things are not possible without a bit of luck. What a pessimist fails to see however is that luck is a product of determination and a commitment to a goal. For example, Fortune 500 companies did not evolve from packets labeled “just add water.” Casino goers who “hit it big” do not necessarily get lucky but rather are the fortunate benefactors of the law of statistics. Contrary to common belief, people don’t just miraculously lose weight; it’s the product of a commitment to a healthier lifestyle. The point is this: What you do and what you believe go a long way in to paving the way that we walk through life.

Without sounding too philosophical, when we make a decision to bring about a certain outcome, the entire universe starts the process of making it happen. Philosophers call this synchronicity, or when things come together in an unexplainable way to help us reach our destination. As long as we persist in the belief of creating the desired result, the process continues. When doubt, hatred, or fear dominates our thoughts, the process stops and energies are directed in other directions. This is why there is a lot of truth and validity in the power of positive thinking. Sometimes we express a strong desire and the result occurs immediately. Other times we strive long and hard without any visible progress, much like when people begin an exercise program only to quit too soon. But the moment we decide to do what it takes to create the result, the universe bends towards us to assist. This will continue unless we do something to stop the process.

For that reason, that is why there is nothing you can’t do. There are things that might not be worth doing but almost anything can be accomplished somehow. To do such things requires a certain state of mind. It requires optimism, determination, and clarity of focus. Optimism is the only productive way to think; a continuing belief that there is a way and that you will ultimately find it. Determination is to do what is necessary even if it is not convenient, if you are not in the mood, if it takes more than you expected, and if it is not fair, meaning that you have to contribute more than others. Clarity of focus is essential in order to activate things in your favor. This is why goal setting in writing is essential to get things going. The clearer your focus, the more compelling your influence becomes.

Emerson said, “Desire is possibility seeking expression.” If you truly want something, the possibility of it surely exists. That does not mean that it is a good idea for you, it just means that it could happen. But if you are dedicated to achieving something deeply and sincerely, then it is your responsibility to pursue it. Problems arise when we decide that we already know what it will take to do the job. Far too many variables exist for us to really “know” what it takes in any instance. So we must move forward based on what we know, while listening to the messages the world is sending us. We sometimes find that an even better outcome is available to us through a simple change in direction. At other times we simply need to learn the lesson life has to teach us at a given point and then move on in a new direction. We never know how valuable that life lesson will be later on as we pursue a greater goal. So I simply encourage you to be realistic and appreciate that there is no limit to what you can do.
