Why Rotary?
Why Rotary? Pancakes: I was introduced to Rotary when I was 5-6 years old. My grandfather was a Rotarian and they regularly held the pancake breakfast at the local firehouse. This was one of my favorites — wake up early on a Saturday morning, eat pancakes, then play on the fire trucks and even slide down the fire pole.
Now that I’m older, I realize Rotary is more than just a pancake breakfast. What I never realized, was that I was actually making a difference at a young age by participating. The funds raised at the pancake breakfast helped enrich the lives of the local and global community.
I joined Rotary to help make my local community a better place for my family. The motto “Service Over Self” is how I approach every day. There are so many amazing ways the Rotary enriches our lives and that’s what makes being a Rotarian so gratifying.
